As a young lad, growing-up in Switzerland, the future
ROAD-SCHOLAR was a dyed-in-the-wool truck fanatic and would
never miss a chance to hitch a ride with a truck, be it with a
local dumper or a large combination highway unit.
Vacations were spent rolling over Europe as an un-paid driver
assistant, acquiring valuable knowledge for his ultimate career
goals. However, as trucking was not a respectable profession
in the mid-sixties, he chose an apprenticeship in the travel
business. After becoming a certified travel consultant in
1969, he immigrated to Canada and continued working in his
chosen career for some 17 years, affording him a chance to visit
many exotic world-class
destinations in the process. Over the years, the travel
industry changed and the electronic age made travel consultants
increasingly redundant.
Thus, In 1986, a career change was called for: The
travel agent became a proud owner of a used Freightliner highway
tractor and entered the world of trucking, finally realizing his
childhood dream. |
Over the next 7
years, as an Owner/Operator for KLEYSEN
TRANSPORT of Winnipeg and
UNIVERSAL TRANSIT of Toronto, the future
ROAD-SCHOLAR accumulated over 1.5 million accident-free
kilometers between Sydney/NS and Vancouver/BC. By 1993, the
self-imposed trucker-apprenticeship had given him a solid practical experience, which combined with 16 weeks of
specialized theoretical studies through
ONTARIO SAFETY LEAGUE (Fleet Driver Trainer, Air
Brake Endorsement Instructor & Accident Investigator) - created
the basis to open his Transportation Consulting Business under
the banner of anaper trans-consult .
THE ROAD-SCHOLAR , a division of anaper
trans-consult, was created in 2000 to better differentiate
between the various services offered to valuable clients, which
